1756-1765 Events from Around the World

January 1756 - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is born in Salzburg.

May 1756 - Britian declares war on France. The Seven Years War begins.

June 1757 - Battle of Plassey (India). The British, under Robert Clive, defeat the nawab of Bengal and capture Calcutta and the French colony at Chandernagot. This ensures England will henceforth be the dominant power in India.

July 1758 - Duquesne is renamed Pittsburgh.

January 1759 - Poet Robert Burns is born in Scotland.

1760 - Beginning of the Industrial Revolution in England.

October 1760 - George III becomes King of England.

February 1763 - Treaty of Paris.

March 1765 - British Stamp Act imposed.

May 1765 - British Quartering Act.
